This study aims to examine the current income protection system for senior people in China and explore the current status and future directions concerning public pension schemes. The research method analyzed four aspects of the subject and eligibility criteria, the types and the contents of benefit, the funding and delivery system from the perspective of comparative studies. The research conclusions are as follows. Above all, the integration of the two basic pension schemes should be made into universal national pension scheme in future. Next, the reallocation effect and risk-distribution functions of public pension scheme should be strengthened by improving the integration fund stratification to revamp pension insurance into a nationwide integrated operation. Finally, the security and financial sustainability of public pension scheme should be ensured by addressing the problem of “being empty” in personal account and improving investment management. Based on the research conclusions above, we hope that many studies will be carried out on the characteristics of Chinese pension insurance reform at each time, its efforts to reform Chinese public pension scheme, and institutional differences between Korea and China in the future.
