As accelerated urbanization in contemporary society has resulted in overcrowding, excessive consumption of limited resources, and environmental problems, research on smart city industry for sustainable urban system is being actively conducted to solve them. In terms of urban planning, smart cities aim to realize sustainable cities by improving energy conservation, traffic problems, and residents' lives and welfare. For this purpose, in terms of housing planning, it is necessary to develop a plan-specific design strategy for sustainable housing types aimed at improving the quality of life of urban residents before the construction of a technical infrastructure. Meanwhile, from the point of view of the goal of improving the quality of life for residents, the interest in community-housing is increasing. Especially, as the purpose and form of the residential community have diversified due to changes in household composition and changes in urban life patterns, community-housing is emerging in Korea. However, since the community-housing of Korea is in the early stage of introduction, the process of stable planning is lacking and it is difficult to secure sustainability. Against this backdrop, the study focused on community-housing as a model for sustainable housing in smart cities. Through the case analysis of community- housing, the plan and design strategies for sustainable community-housing are derived and the use of them as smart city planning elements is proposed.
