In Korean society regarding an educational background as being an important factor of success, it is true that the result of education has a decisive effect on quality of life. The effects of education on the potential nonmarket outcomes have been one of main topics in the area of the economics of education. Major examples of outcomes considered include a quality of life reflected by their health, a condition of employment, a social relation, and so forth. The main purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of education on the quality of the elderly people’s life mediated by their subjective health, types of employment, frequency of social relation. We additionally examined whether gender and age groups (based on the retirement age) could moderate the relationships among education, mediating variables, and the quality of life. The method applied in this study was a path analysis to solve the purpose of this study. Data using in this study was collected by employment panel data of The Korea Employment Information Service(KEIS). The results found in this study were as followings; First, the level of education had a direct influence on the quality of the elderly people’s life. Second, the types of employment, a subjective health, and the frequency of social relations as a mediator variable have statistically been operated in the process that the level of education affected the quality of the elderly people’s life. Third, based on an average retirement age, the path coefficient for the quality of the elderly people’s life existed a meaningful difference according to the gender groups of before and after of average retirement age. Finally, several implications for the future research were discussed concerning the studies of a linkage of educational policies and policy challenges in the aging era.
