This paper purposes to show the structural and lexical affinity between Evenki and Korean, investigating the grammatical characteristics of Evenki. Evenki is one of Tungus languages, which has been spoken in the vast area of Siberia from Enisel river to the Pacific coast, from the lake Baikal to the shore of the Arctic ocean. Recently dubious questions on the linguistic affinity of Korean to Tungus languages have been raised. It is true that the arguments pro and con regarding their relations have been based on weak evidences. Thus it may be meaningful to investigate the grammatical structure of Evenki, once called "Tungus" and to analyze its lexicons. It will be the first step to excavate the linguistic clues, deeply concealed behind lost history. Especially dealing with properties of case, copula, word order and subject, converbs, postpositions, and lexical affinity between Evenki and Korean, this paper provides some clues to support the argument on the relation of Korean to Tungus.
