This study was conducted with the aim of exploring the digital utilization experiences of social workers belonging to welfare centers in Seoul to respond to COVID-19 and suggesting effective strategies in the future. To this end, Focus Group Interview was conducted for six social work field managers with abundant experience in digital-based practices and who work on the said area for their respective welfare centers. Before COVID-19, digital practices have already been used, and it was easy to quickly expand it at a time when contact was restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This prompt response to the pandemic reduced service gaps and avoided disconnection of relationships with users. On the other hand, the difficulties faced were also revealed such as stress caused by workers" heavy workload, demands for various roles, and the absence of appropriate advice and education. It is suggested that the following efforts are needed to strengthen digital use in social work practice, such as incorporating digital competency into social worker role, creative support to improve users’ digital literacy, and institutional foundation of digital-based service delivery.
