The purpose of this study is to examine the ecological awareness of Indians through the speeches of the Indian chiefs. Indians who had long been the masters of the North American continent were ignored and expelled from the whites. However, the Indians’ sense of respect for nature is prevalent throughout the speeches of the chief, who represents the Indians. This makes us realize that environmental awareness of Indians is desirable as environmental problems are emerging as a serious issue today. The Indians recognize that humans are only a fraction of the various species that make up an ecosystem, including animals and plants, so it is undesirable for humans to rule over other members of the ecosystem. The basis of the common perception of nature revealed in the speeches is the organic worldview, which is the ecological awareness that humans are some of the members of the earth who inhabit the earth together with other living things and non-living things.
