Purpose: National Indoor Air Certification was introduced to structure an IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) management system for multi-purpose facility that experiences a difficulty in managing IAQ due to floating population. Although its demo projects ended in a seize in 2018, it is expected to restart in the near future. From previous demo projects, many existing facilities that are aged and lack of required records and document were not successful to achieve the certification, even if their IAQ were under decent management. This study aims to present some suggestions of improvement over the existing certification system. Method: Firstly, organization and procedure of the certification were investigated based on author"s experience who is involved in demo project operations. Then, cases of the 2018 demo project were thoroughly analyzed per each primary step. The analysis focuses on identifying practical limits in application and meeting the requirements, irrationales in gaining extra points from field evaluation, misalignment between field evaluation criteria and measured IAQ, and others. Result: This study concludes with suggesting six primary improvements for procedure and criteria of the certification, including providing a separate set of certification criteria for existing facilities and facilities smaller than the legal minimum of certification.
