Report Errors
This study examined effects of ageism and elderly human right on attitude toward caring for the elderly in nursing students. The participants were 155 nursing students in C province. Data were collected from October 25 to December 11, 2021 through self reported structured questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise regression. Ageism correlated negatively with toward caring for the elderly(r=-.415, p＜.001), elderly human right correlated positively with toward caring for the elderly(r=.225, p=.005). Participants’ ageism, elderly human right and experience of elderly education explained 22.2% of variance in attitude toward caring for the elderly in nursing students. The findings indicate that an education program to improve elderly human right and elderly knowledge and a management plan to reduce ageism are needed to improve the attitude toward caring for the elderly of nursing students.
