Report Errors
For the massive urban renewal programs, the redevelopment projects by overall pulling down had been used for a long time but those methods were underwent lots of troubles. Recently the renewal projects facing the limitation of existing redevelopment system are turning to the regeneration program leading by residents and communities. For the regeneration project, residents participation is essential to push forward the renewal plan. On this study, we analyzed the case of regeneration project for community revitalization in Incheon and discussed the improvement proposals of political and institutional framework. We produced the following results from our study. First of all, the role of the residents is critical for the regeneration projects, such as that residents are offering various participate ways and stating their views actively. Second, residents participation is expanding by activating community and supporting financial ability. As a result of reviewing the project of Incheon, we found that many methods of residents participation were used at the early stage, but they need to improve the system of community management and to set up the economic independence. In order to achieve residents participation for the regeneration projects, it is necessarily to vitalize the community spirit and to upgrade the public supporting system. Also we need to push ahead the projects with the longterm view and advanced preparation. The next steps to establish the regeneration projects as effective and sustainable urban renewal program are studying more cases in-depth and making up for the weak points in the current regeneration system.
