The purpose of this study to investigate how residents develop their community identity through experience of cooperation of the urban regeneration and social welfare community center and explore the meaning of ‘community organization based on urban regeneration’ by exploring the interaction of various agents. The researcher conduct a qualitative research by in-depth interviews with participants. The results of this research showed, the residents confirmed that they had formed collective identity and laid the foundation of social safety nets by themselves by participating this successful cooperating works on urban regeneration-based community organization project. Through this research, we found that this project is the key strategy to drive the alternative urban policy process as a “community restoration” in a resident-friendly manner. Based on the research results, we suggested that the social welfare community center should focus on laying the local trust base and advocacy for residents as a collaborator of urban regeneration, and should be considered as the main sector of urban regeneration.
