Designing the urban landscape, literally has to cover grand scale of areas and includes many design fields as well as contents. In addition to the physical scope of simply planting plans or building urban infrastructure, attempts have been made to view landscape design from the people’s daily life point of views.
The purpose of the study is to conduct empirical research of urban landscape design planning process by applying the Co-Design methodology, one of the user-centered service design methods, to find problems and discuss various stakeholders including residents.
For the study objects, this study run three Co-Design workshops with Sejong citizens for Sejong Special City landscape design masterplanning, and the process and results were analyzed.
The Co-Design workshops have proved that citizens who has little design literacy needs visual supporting material to improve participation and communication on the subjects.
This study has a significance to develop a service model of platform-based public design which will be useful to local councils and designers who cooperate with citizens by sharing the process of the Co-Design workshop.
