Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the actual condition and awareness about parental counseling of the children"s parent in the child development center and to compare the differences in awareness and actual condition, awareness and characteristics of the subjects. Methods: A questionnaire was conducted to 108 parents of disabled children who aged 6 and under in a child development center. Results: First, the most frequent subjects were mother, more than 30 years and less than 50 years, university graduates, homemaker, monthly income of more than 3 million won and less than 5 million won, male children, more than 2 and less than 4 years children, specific language impairment, and communication problems. Second, the average frequency of counseling sessions is more than 0.5 times and less than 1 time per session, time is more that 1 minute and less than 5 minutes, method was face to face, place was therapy room, and contents was therapeutic program. Third, parent counseling responded positively to overall awareness, offer information, therapist attitude, and counseling effect, but negative responses were found in counseling environment and intervention of psychological problems that among offer information. Fourth, there were various differences according to the characteristics of the subjects. Grandparents and age groups over 50 showed a negative awareness about parent counseling and the subjects with high monthly income showed a negative awareness about the environment. Conclusions: Parents counseling at the Child Development Center is an important factor for parent and child development and the guardian of disabled children are generally satisfied.
