The current socioeconomic situation, more than 10 years after the implementation of the community enterprise project, is significantly different from the initial stage of the project, and the performance of the community enterprise is also different from the initial purpose. Therefore, it is necessary to find the role of community enterprises suitable for reality and review the direction of the project to secure sustainability.
Therefore, this study analyzed the reasons, business contents, business types, and business types of excellent community enterprises selected as community enterprises representing the project in each year since 2011 and by city, county, and district. As a result of the analysis, first, many companies are at risk of extinction due to population decline, second, projects are centered on rural areas and agriculture with relatively low income levels regardless of administrative districts, and third, with the recent emergence of youth-centered companies, expansion of new business areas and the businesses related to resolution of regional problems in urban areas are increasing. In addition, the characteristic of the overall flow is that the number of urban and service-type community enterprises to solve various regional problems is increasing over time from early rural and goods-type community enterprises to create local jobs and increase income.
Based on the analysis results, the role and development measures of community enterprises were proposed to strengthen regional maintenance functions, find projects to respond to changes in economic conditions, business contents and corporate forms suitable to region, and the need to expand the community of residents.
