Republic of Korea has participated in PKO for 30 years since 1993. Until now, Korea has focused on getting attention and support from Korean people on PKO as its PKO was at its early stage. However, there have been lots of changes in UN PKO environments. After the Cold War, most security threats such as economic inequality, political disputes, Civil Wars, and destruction of environments come to fore in international society rather than national conflicts. To respond to those, the roles of UN PKO have been expanded in multi-dimensional environments and UN should be equipped with professional ability.
This research shed new light on strategies of ROK PKO for last 30 years, established the goals policies, and suggested PKO military strategies supporting these. Furthermore, it suggested core strategies for the future.
