As urban regeneration projects and living SOC projects are expected to change or shrink, a new project method is needed. Urban regeneration projects have been promoted as a central government support project, but only 63 were designated in Gyeonggi-do, and the living SOC project was terminated in 2022. There are 218 areas of urban decline in Gyeonggi-do, but the state support is insufficient.
As a result of the survey, 62.9% of residents were aware of the Urban Regeneration. But, looking at the limitations of this project, 45.1% of residents answered that the project was slow. The Improvement Projects of the Living Environment can be promoted through Gyeonggi-do’s own urban regeneration policy because it can quickly supply the facilities required by residents without a complicated planning process.
As the ordinance was enacted, it is necessary to establish a direction for this project. 6 out of 10 residents in old-town are in favor of this project and it is recognized that the city and county should take the lead in this project.
In order to prevent duplicating support, 15 districts and 300 areas, excluding the previous project promotion areas, have an area of about 46.48 million square meters. The facilities required by residents are public parking lots, CCTV, and security-related facilities.
It is appropriate to apply by the local government and select by Gyeonggi-do, and it is suggested that the provincial government support is possible in the range of 30% of the facility cost excluding the land cost.
After the first-stage pilot project, it is suggested to expand and apply to the second-stage project through improvement of the project procedure.
