Purpose : The purpose of this study is to examine the actual conditions and experiences of parents for group therapy in order to effectively plan and operate group therapy, and to investigate the parents’ demands for group therapy. Methods : A survey was conducted on the experiences, satisfaction, and needs of group therapy for 34 primary caregivers of children with communication disorders who are receiving speech therapy. Results : First, as preschool children enter school age, the demand for group speech therapy is increasing so that they can adapt well to school life. Second, 41.2% of the subjects had experience participating in group speech therapy. After participating in group speech therapy, improvements were reported in areas that could be effective when treated in a group environment, such as sociality, interaction, and rule keeping. Third, the demand for group speech therapy was 85% higher than those who responded that they had experienced it, and the demand for sensory integration and physical activity such as exercise was high along with speech therapy. Conclusions : Through the results of the study, we were able to confirm the parents’ needs for group therapy of children with speech disabilities, and it is expected that this will become the basis for the development of a specialized group speech therapy program that can respond well tothese needs.
