This study attempted to analyze the socialopinion on rural region solar power. Posts related to photovoltaic system in the rural regionexposed on social media (Youtube) were collected between September 2016 and September2021), and topic modeling analysis was performed on a total of 512 videos and 9,929 Reply(Social Networking Service commentarial replies). First, as a result of analysis of posts insocial media videos, they were classified into 12 topics. Among them, Topic?9(introduction of agricultural?type solar power) and Topic?5 (opposition of residents topermit power generation facilities) had a high proportion of videos. Topics with high publicinterest were Topic?2 (news related to power plant installation; positive response) andTopic?6 (Solar sharing module manufacturer (made in China); negative response). Second,as a result of analyzing users’ Reply on the videos, a total of eight topics of interest wereclassified. Among them, Topic?8 (the government's opinion on renewable energy projects)had a high proportion, and these articles were simultaneously referring to Topic?6 (concernsabout environmental pollution of heavy metals from solar panels). In addition, Topic?7(referring to solar power generation revenue) also had a high proportion, and these articlesalso mentioned Topic?1 (positive opinions on agricultural?type solar power). These resultssuggest that public interest in renewable energy is high but that there are many concernsabout the environmental destruction caused by the installation of solar power.
