This study is to present the counseling function among the social functions of post-community dance. It explores the structure of dance empathy in the resonance between the body and embodied knowledge, and examines the empathy that arises from establishing relationships with others who pursue different beliefs and values, which is regarded as an act of publicizing the issues raised in the relationship between communities and free individuals that enjoy free will and choice. The study describes the process of empathy, where connection and intimacy with a community with differences and diversity, and individuals’ independence in society are recognized as self-esteem, as intercommunication through dance and choreography of the senses and self-expression skills. The embodied knowledge that is generated from the experience of that process is ‘Yeokjisaji 易地思之 (Put yourself in someone else’ shoes’)’ as a way of self-awareness and understanding of the other world. It refers to the potential that can be summoned at any time as knowledge possessed in the body, and shows the spontaneity and similarity of embodied knowledge that can be free from external control or rules. As a result, this study suggests that the autonomy of dance empathy, which discovers the context in embodied knowledge, can be defined as a function of dance counseling in the contemporary society that recognizes various communities where differences and variations exist and maintains intimacy with those communities.
