Phenomenological Study on the Experiences of InfertilityAmong Married MenHaesang Jeon Abstract: Although the number of infertile men is increasing and they bear the consequences of mental distress, male infertility issues are considered supplemental compared to women. This paper analyzed the infertility experiences of married men. The in-depth interviews with six participants were conducted and the major themes could be summarized from the data were ‘changes in social network’, ‘prejudice on male infertility’, ‘a need for infertility related self-help group for men and public sperm bank.’ The result of this study highlights the physical and mental distress men experience in relation to infertility and provides suggestions for social services for this group.
