This study aimed to present a method to solve the employment problem of Taekwondo gyms. The objective of this study was to prepare baseline data for helping the management of Taekwondo gyms by resolving employment issues when the director of a Taekwondo gym (employer) needed to hire someone. A questionnaire was prepared based on the results of this quantitative study. Afterward, this study selected eight directors who ran a Taekwondo gym for ten years or longer, two lawyers, and two labor counselors and conducted in-depth individual interviews. The analysis results of the data showed that employment issues were due to the calculation and raise of salary (poor salary level and standards and insufficient salary increase rate), working hours and break time (excessive working hours, insufficient increase time, and insufficient rest space), welfare system (vacation system and various compensation systems), permanent employment system (non-fulfillment of four major insurance subscriptions and labor contract), and gym management support (preparation for the future and various management support). Consequently, if Taekwondo gyms create a working environment that can make employees satisfied and motivated to work (e.g., compliance with the minimum wage, salary raise, guarantee of break time, introduction of the welfare system, providing four major insurances, conclusion and implementation of a labor contract, and management support), it will solve the employment problem of Taekwondo gyms. Furthermore, an improved employment environment will make the operation of Taekwondo gyms more stable.
