The purpose of this study is to establish a list of lexical categories in Korean and to systematize them. Ultimately, it is to establish the status of as a sub-field of Korean linguistics. For this resarch, 『Korean linguistics Yearbook(2001-2014) was used. And then the following new classification system was proposed. ● lexical categories associated with meaning - lexical categories denoting names - lexical categories representing awareness - lexical categories representing values ● lexical categories irrelevant to meaning - lexical categories according to register - lexical categories irrelevant to register ● lexical categories of out-of-system This classification system can cover the existing Korean lexical categories. And it can also contain new lexical categories. The same subcategories have common properties and share similar methods when conducting research.
