The purpose of this thesis is to research for some similar forms of eternity and time between Christianity and Confucian ism. Of course, the two traditions differ from each other. However, this thesis focuses on exploring and analyzing the common concepts of the everlasting life and temporary modes, the past, present, and future. As regards the methodology, the comparison of the concepts of eternity and time between the two traditions becomes effective and analytical. Through this comparative approach, a reader can understand and rethink the interrelation and coexistence of eternity and time. Their comparison helps the two traditions develop the re-conceptualizations of the concepts they have learned. As for the content of the research, the concepts of eternity and time in Christianity traditionally follow Neo-Platonism, that is, the theory of Plotinus. In his view, eternity and time coexist. Time represents the temporary modes, changeable and moveable, while eternity means repose and stillness?not a stop of time but a nonstop as no an interval. In Confucianism, Zhuxi sees that eternity means the continuity of yang and yin, one in which they complement each other in time and, at the same time, are exclusive and inclusive. Therefore, in the two traditions, to live in eternity means that Christianity claims worshipping Being Itself? God and Confucianism accentuates living a ritual life experiencing the Supreme Polarity. The contribution of this thesis is that Christians discover the importance of worshipping Being Itself?God and Confucians engage in their ritual life. Worshipping and ritual life are the important ways for their followers to realize and experience eternity in the temporal modes, the past, present, and future.
