Under the COVID-19 pandemic, this study explored the changes in perception toward multicultural families through big-data analytics of news articles. On the basis of the findings, it discussed policy support measures that would help members of multicultural families. This study was based on online news articles to analyze the perceptual changes toward multicultural families during the COVID-19 era and employed a news big-data analysis system called “BIGKinds” to collect news articles. As a search term, “multicultural family” was used, and online news articles published between 2019 and 2020 were collected to compare before and after the pandemic. The analysis of related keywords to “multicultural families” that appeared in the 2020 news articles revealed that negative related keywords have increased compared to those published in 2019, the pre-pandemic period. On the basis of such results, this study suggested several support measures for multicultural families in the era of the pandemic as follows. First, it is important to provide psychological and emotional support for these families. Second, it is necessary to recognize the flaws in news reports on multicultural families and to remedy the situation. Third, it is required to establish social networks centered on areas where multicultural families reside, which can lead to a high level of awareness of disaster-related public services.
