Li Gou is a very characteristic poet in the field of poetry of Northern Song Dynasty. However, there has been no further research on Li Gou′s poems for many years, because people pay more attention to his political ideology than his poems as a result of his remarkable achievements on academy. Because of this, this thesis made comprehensive and deep study on Li Gou′s poems, based on his political thoughts and literary ideas. The historical poems written by Li Gou inherited the tradition of previous writers who expressed their emotions through versifying historical events. He versified current state affairs to express his concern and ambitions, used historical events for reference to advocate transformation, debated the historic events. Li Gou lashed out at the social evils, such as regal fatuity, hypocritical confucian. In addition, he made a estimation the history characters.
