The objectives of this research are to find out the effects of taekwondo players' 2x2 achievement goal tendency on competition anxiety, and to study the adjustment effect by background variable, or gender. To accomplish the objectives, Taekwondo players who are registered on the Korea Taekwondo Association were selected as population, and materials were collected from 187 people. To attain the above research goals, structure equation model analysis was performed along with multi-group analysis. The summary of the research result is as follows. First, mastery access does not have a significant effect on physical state anxiety and cognitive state anxiety, but has a positive effect on state of confidence. Second, mastery avoidance does not have a significant effect on physical state anxiety, cognitive state anxiety and state of confidence. Third, execute access has a negative effect on physical state anxiety and cognitive state anxiety. Fourth, execute avoidance has a positive effect on physical state anxiety and cognitive state anxiety, but has a negative effect on state of confidence. Next, the result of studying adjustment effect of taekwondo players' 2x2 achievement goal tendency at the competition anxiety relation by background variable, or gender shows no adjustment effect among mastery access, mastery avoidance, physical state anxiety, cognitive state anxiety and state of confidence. Besides, there was no adjustment effect among execute access, execute avoidance, cognitive state anxiety and state of confidence. However, gender has an adjustment effect on the relation between execute access and physical state anxiety, and the relation between execute avoidance and physical state anxiety.
