Report Errors
Language and place are familiar concepts to us, but hospitality may not be. In modern philosophy, the status or coordinates of hospitality are not well defined. To clarify its position, we aim to establish the concept of "refugee" as a specific problem area. However, instead of assuming that hospitality is only for refugees, we suggest that hospitality in this context must first go through a detour of language hospitality and then place hospitality. Language hospitality involves hospitality through translation, while place hospitality encompasses not only physical hospitality and living space, but also the creation of a "world" (Welt) and "between" (inter-esse). It should be noted that a person is not only being-in-language also being-in-place, being-in-the-world. An example of where language and place hospitality intersect most intensely would illustrate this point well.
