Since the commercialization of lithium-ion batteries, research on rechargeable batteries has continued to grow along with the growth of the industry. This study aims to analyze the research trends of secondary batteries using bibliographic information to propose the direction of establishing national technology strategy. Using the Web of Science article database, we identified countries and institutions with strengths in secondary battery research based on bibliographic information and derived research trends through network analysis. The analysis showed that China is experiencing rapid growth in both quantitative and qualitative research results in the field of secondary batteries. In the first half of the decade, research was mainly conducted to improve lithium-ion batteries and apply them to hybrid vehicles, but in the second half of the decade, research was expanding to develop next-generation secondary batteries and apply them to various industrial fields.
