This study discusses the practical limitations and tasks for curriculum assessment in the field of early childhood education(ECE) and explores its direction. To this end, five early childhood curriculum assessment experts were selected as research participants and a focus group discussion(FGD) was conducted. Participants were able to freely discuss their thoughts and concerns in a forum. This was not to find a consensus, but to create a direction for curriculum assessment with becoming entangled “together-apart.” Analysis of the discussion data revealed, the direction of early childhood curriculum evaluation is “from value judgment to value creation,” “from the subject-object of assessment to the entanglement of agency,” “from externally given assessment to the assessment that occurs with curriculum implementation as an event,” and “ethics....” This study offers new possibilities for deeper understanding of the complex phenomena intertwined with the implementation of early childhood curriculum assessment. Additionally, it provides meaningful implications for finding future-oriented directions of early childhood curriculum assessment that responds to the limitations and challenges that we are currently facing.
