The study of the Reformation in the 16th century is important in understanding western medieval and modern history. However, recent world history textbooks of the 2015 revised curriculum do not treat the Reformation as an important event in the ‘content system' and 'achievement standard’ and ‘direction of teaching', 'learning and evaluation.’ This study aims to analyze the problem of world history textbooks devaluing or misrepresenting the Reformation. To this end, the content and curricular changes of the Reformation in the textbooks will be reviewed. Then, the description of the Reformation will be analyzed followed by alternative suggestions. The Reformation of the 16th century is an important historical event that is necessary for understanding the medieval and modern ages in Europe. Objective description and historical understanding is needed for the Reformation, aside from the influence of Christian studies. In summary, academic advice from scholars or experts of Reformation is needed on the presentation of the Reformation in the history textbooks.
