Report Errors
The purpose of this study is to examine how government and private subsidies for work integration social enterprises contribute to employment performance while comparing the differences between the vulnerable and the non-vulnerable. Using the materials based on the 2021 social enterprise business report provided by the Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency, this study analyzed the relationship between government and private funding with quantitative employment performance (employee and employment ratio of vulnerable groups) and qualitative employment performance (working hours, monthly and hourly wages) of work integration social enterprises. The results of this study are as follows. First, government funding had a positive relationship with the number of employees and employment rates of vulnerable groups, but private funding had a positive relationship only with the number of employees of vulnerable groups. Second, both government and private funding were found to have a negative relationship with the hourly wage of the vulnerable. Third, it was found that government funding had a positive relationship with working hours of the non-vulnerable and negative relationship with hourly wages, while private funding had no significant relationship with the qualitative employment performance of the non-vulnerable. Based on these research results, several suggestions for the government to improve the employment outcomes of vulnerable workers were discussed.
