The surrounding space plays a huge role in the identity development of a human being. The space one grows in can dictate as to what actions or decisions one is to make. As urbanization is spreading more and more the majority of us find ourselves surrounded by concrete and mundane buildings. These buildings themselves lack any sort of identity and are depriving one of shaping a proper cultural perception, as they turn their back on the local cultural identity. Living in and being surrounded by dullness can only aid a dull and empty state of mind. Murals, on the other hand, enrich the space and preserve the local cultures. The purpose of this paper is to bring awareness of the increasing mass production of apartment buildings and their lack of identity. The aim is to present ways on how those mundane buildings can be enriched with the use of Murals. In order to do so, one must understand what the majority of the society prefers. Therefore a survey regarding the preference for Murals on the apartment building facades was conducted. Nearly 450 individuals took part in the survey. The survey consisted of multiple images that show apartment buildings with and without images and textures. Aside from the images, general questions regarding personal preferences were asked. The data collected gives a better understanding on what feelings people get from the lack or presence of Murals as well as what are the preferences when it comes to Murals. The exterior walls of apartment buildings, being dominant in the urban spaces, prove to be the ideal blank canvas when it comes to murals. Through those big, in size exterior walls the whole surrounding space can be modified in a positive way. Rather than just stamping each of them with a brand, adding variety on these walls can prove to have a better influence on the society inhabiting them.
