Based on the theory of language transfer, the theory of error analysis and the theory of phonetic pattern, this paper uses the method of experimental phonetics to analyze the problems existing in the acquisition of Mongolian short vowels by Chinese native speakers. The tongue position of Mongolian short vowels of Chinese native speakers is later and higher than that of the target language; for Chinese native speakers, the four vowels of Mongolian [i], [u], [ɐ] and [ə]are similar vowels, the six vowels of [o], [ɛ], [œ], [ɔ], [ʊ] and [ɪ] are new vowels. native language has a significant influence on the acquisition of similar vowels. The [ɐ] and [i] have positive transfer, [u] and [ə] have negative transfer. There is a negative transfer in the acquisition of new vowels; the acquisition of similar vowel is better than new vowel. This study offers a better learning plan and clues for correcting errors in pronunciation and oral communication for Chinese native speakers learning Mongolian, thus facilitating the exchange and integration of Mongolian and Chinese languages and cultures.
