Enterococcus pallens는 노란 색소침착을 보이는 enterococci로현재까지 캐나다 복막염 환자의 복막액에서 분리된 4건의 보고만이 존재한다. 본 증례에서 저자들은 국내에서 최초로 분리된 E.
pallens 균종에 대해 보고하고자 한다. 간경화 과거력이 있는 71세남자 환자가 복수 양 증가로 응급실을 통해 입원하였다. 복막액 세균배양에서 그람양성알균이 관찰되었다. 혈액한천배지에서 계대배양 하였을 때 회색의 작은 알파 용혈성 집락을 형성하였으며, 노란 색소침착이 관찰되었다. 해당 균주는 MALDI Biotyper (Bruker Daltonics, Germany)를 통한 동정에서 E. pallens로 확인되었으며, 16S rRNA 염기서열분석에서도 동일한 동정 결과를 보였다. VITEK 2 GP, P600 panel (bioMérieux, France)을 이용한 항균제 감수성 검사에서 대부분의 항균제에 감수성을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 저자들은 국내 최초로 환자에서 분리된 E.
pallens를 보고하고, 균주의 동정 과정과 특성에 관한 정보를 공유하고자 한다.
