In recent years, arguments have begun to emerge that foreign workforce should be introduced into care services such as nursing and childcare as a measure for low birthrates and aging populations. From September 2024, the Seoul Government will implement a pilot project for foreign domestic workers.
However, Regarding the introduction of foreign domestic worker, various issues remain, such as the subject of the labor law, the distinction between domestic labor and care labor, the prohibition of discrimination against foreign workers, the differential application of the minimum wage.
