Human beings live in pursuit of safety in their own society, but they also live in a situation of making one another enemies. In this environment, they try to have an advantage over others and wish to be separated from all things that are not themselves by calling them monsters. People, however, use their subjective yardsticks to assess others, which has driven each other to the extreme and caused problems. In the end, They have become "monsters as others" and tried to escape from such situations. One of the ways is to "dash" away from the prison that they made called society. An escape through speeding is accompanied by fear with the basic elements of human beings manifested in the process.
This study set out to analyze Wayward Pines and Maze Runner. These works show why human beings try to escape from reality very clearly and, at the same time, focus on catastrophe, which is a basic hormone released at the moment of fear when people try to escape from a situation. Faced with fear, human beings are placed in "stress" and "crisis" situations. The present study shows that "dash," which "trapped human beings" try to escape from a situation, grows intense in a circumstance of escaping from the situation and puts them under stress. And their stress caused by the sudden change(catastrophe) makes their determination even clearer. In both Wayward Pines and Maze Runner, not all characters get to overcome their difficulties, but they manage to conquer their fear and accompany one another instead of regarding one another as monsters. This study made a basic approach to the true nature of human beings and a different group of people.
