In urban logistics within Southeast Asia, particularly in Ho Chi Minh City, motorcycles are vital for effective last-mile delivery, accounting for 75% of daily trips due to their adaptability to congested streets. This paper investigates a Multi-Depot Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows (MDVRPTW) specific to motorcycle logistics, addressing constraints such as multiple depot origins, customer-specific time windows, and limited vehicle capacities. An Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm, enhanced with a 3-opt local search, is proposed to optimize route efficiency, reduce travel distances, and ensure timely deliveries across complex urban routes. This ACO-3-opt model outperforms standard ACO by refining routes and minimizing total mileage, which lead to reducing the operational costs. Through an empirical study in Ho Chi Minh City, the algorithm demonstrates significant improvements in delivery efficiency, showcasing its potential to address the logistical demands of high-density urban environments. The findings provide insights into optimizing urban distribution networks, particularly for motorbikebased logistics in Southeast Asian megacities.
