As households with companion dogs continue to increase, more households are raising companion dogs in apartmentcomplexes, leading to various conflicts between neighbors. This study aimed to explore effective planning measures for publicareas within apartment complexes where companion dog and non-dog households coexist, considering their balancedperspectives. An online survey was conducted, and the collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 26 statistical analysisprogram, including frequency analysis, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, and ANOVA test. The results showed thatboth companion dog and non-dog households experienced various inconveniences in common spaces, amenities, and ancillaryfacilities within apartment complexes, but there were differences in the environmental factors causing discomfort and the degreeof necessity. Both groups expressed the need for pet elevator notification buttons, sound insulation in corridors, waste disposalfacilities on walking paths, dog run prevention fences, pet etiquette guidance signs, and leash hooks on parking lot pillars inpublic areas Therefore, items reflecting the needs of both companion dog and non-dog households should be incorporated intoapartment complex improvement plans. This study is expected to provide practical guidelines for the design and management ofapartment complexes where companion dog and non-dog households coexist, minimizing conflicts and problems within thecomplexes and improving residents' quality of life through a new design approach.
