This study examines the factors influencing Korean writing assessment by analyzing the correlation between text type, text length, text proficiency level, and scoring bias using a FACETS analysis based on the Many-Facet Rasch Model (MFRM). The findings are as follows: First, rater severity varied according to text type. Additionally, specific scoring criteria garnered more attention from raters depending on the text type. However, raters encountered challenges in consistently applying multiple scoring constructs, particularly for argumentative and narrative texts. Second, argumentative and expository texts exhibited a greater dispersion in scoring tendencies among raters, while narrative texts displayed relatively less scoring bias. Moreover, an analysis of texts with a high frequency of scoring bias within each text type revealed that key scoring criteria or contrasting characteristics considered important for each text type could significantly contribute to scoring bias. Finally, although scoring bias was more prominent in longer texts overall, this effect was especially noticeable in argumentative texts, where longer submissions tended to receive a lenient compensatory bias. The frequency of scoring bias also varied by text proficiency level, with different ranges of bias occurring depending on the text type.
