This study explores the potential of Metaverse technology to address the limitations of learning presence in remote practical education and enhance learning experiences. A total of 134 students, including culinary and bakery majors, participated in Metaverse-based cooking and bakery practice classes, respectively, where this study examined the effect of perceived learning presence (cognitive, social, and emotional) on learning flow, satisfaction, and persistence. The findings revealed that among the sub-dimensions of learning presence, social presence and emotional presence—excluding cognitive presence—positively influenced learning flow and learning satisfaction, which subsequently enhanced learning persistence. These results suggest that the limitations of learning presence, often cited as challenges in non-face-to-face online practical education, can be effectively addressed through Metaverse-based technologies. This study provides valuable insights for the design and implementation of practice-oriented online classes in culinary arts and food service-related disciplines and contributes to the academic understanding of learning presence in Metaverse-based learning environments.
