This paper discusses which position the perception on 「Shuxu[書序]」(the preface of Shangshu) appeared in 「Shuxubyeon[書序辨]」·「Gyeonghae-Shuxubyeon[經解-書序辨]」·「Seoryu-Shuxubyeon[書類-書序辨]」·「Seoryu-Shuxuseol[書類-書序說]」 among Sung, Hae-Eung''s 『Shangshu[尙書]』(Classic of History) research achievements and its performance are.
「Shuxu」 is each short introduction on 『Shangshu』, which is briefly description of the Buddhist scriptures'' cause or the author''s intention. The perception on 「Shuxu」 is changed at the bifurcation of SouthernSong[南宋] Dynasty. Shangshu scholars[尙書學者] prior to the SouthernSong Dynasty trusted 「Shuxu」 because it was Confucius[孔子]'' literary work. However, scholars who studied 「Shuxu」 after the SouthernSong Dynasty argued 「Shuxu」''s author was not Confucius but other person such as GyeongSa[經師], an officer[史官] or an officer for foreign affairs[周官 外史]. Also, the scholars said they didn''t trust 「Shuxu」 by raising a question about the contents of 「Shuxu」 regardless of the author. The perception on 「Shuxu」 in Korea follows the recognition of Cai Chen[蔡沈] with Zhuzi[朱子], but only Jeong, Yak-Yong[丁若鏞] claimed 「Shuxu」 was the writings of Confucius and later scholars didn''t recognize it due to a lot of modification.
Although Seong, Hae-Eung followed Zhuzi''s claims Confucius didn''t write 「Shuxu」, regarding 「Shuxu」''s author, he asserted a unique theory its author was a person in the first half period of Han[漢] Dynasty saw Sima Qian[司馬遷]''s 『Shiji[史記]』(Records of the Grand Historian) 「Jaseo[自序]」. The characteristics of Sung, Hae-Eung''s 「Shuxu」 Nonbyeon is to revise the table of 「Shuxu」 actively according to the contents of studying 「Shuxu」 for himself. These comments are Sung, Hae-Eung''s original results of the study appearing in China and Korea. Finally, as for 「Shuxu」''s creative way, he said only a few characters in the contents of the first verse of 『Sangseo』''s Buddhist scriptures were changed or 「Shuxu」 was written based on the contents of 『Sangseo』 in 『Shiji』. It''s noteworthy to make stand his own original opinion without following existing comments about 「Shuxu」 uncritically. He used a method of compromising righteousness philosophy in Song Dynasty and historical research to support his argument.
Through the eloquence on Sung, Hae-Eung''s 「Shuxu」, he examined general aspects of his study on 『Shangshu』, and prepared a foothold to carry out a full-scale study on his understanding of 『Shangshu』.
