The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of the STEAM on the scientific attitude and interdisciplinary inquiry ability of high school students by applying the program to actual classroom.
The participants were 30 students recruited from a high school located in Incheon Metropolitan City. The existing STEAM developed by a teacher study group was adapted and applied to the students. The students’ scientific inquiry abilities of pre- and post-application were compared and the changes were determined and the questionnaire survey on scientific attitude was administered. The program was validated by a related expert.
The results of this study showed that students were very satisfied with STEAM program and that the application of the program increased their scientific inquiry ability and such the sub-elements as setting up hypothesis, defining variables, determining variables, operational definition and data interpretation.
