Purpose: This study is a descriptive study to investigate the effects of university student''s interpersonal intimacy and relational aggression on dating violence. Methodes: The subjects of this study were 196 university students aged 19 years or older among universities in Korea. The data were collected for one month from March 18, 2020 to April 17, 2020. Interpersonal intimacy was measured using tools developed by Jane, Carolyn, Linda (1993) and Eun-sil Lee, and Sung-hwa Hong (2002). Relational aggression was measured using the tools developed by Ji-young Choi and Ra-young Bae (2017). The dating violence was measured by tools developed by Straus, Hamby, Buney-McCoy and Sugarman (1996) by Jung-nan Kim and Kyung-shin Kim (1999). The data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0 and descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, and stepwise regression were used.
Results: The results from this study are as follow: The age of the subjects was 72.5% over 21 years old. Among the subjects, 63.8% of women and 54.6% of those who are currently having relationship were found. The results of this study are as follows: Dating violence was positively correlated with aggression and negatively correlated with interpersonal intimacy. The results of the multiple regression analysis were leading relational aggression (β=.60, p<.001), affective relational aggression (β=.20, p<.001), and current relationship (β=.10, p=.010), sub-factor trust of interpersonal intimacy (β=-.11, p=.046), respectively, were found to affect dating violence. Conclusion: This study is a descriptive correlation study to understand how interpersonal intimacy and relational aggression of university students affect dating violence, and to provide basic data when developming programs and developing educational contents for forming a healthy relationship through this. The influencing factors of dating violence are significant factors such as trust in relational aggression, affection, and interpersonal intimacy. In previous studies, there was a lack of research on dating violence, interpersonal intimacy and dating violence in university students. Dating violence and effective diversity research should be conducted for university students.
