오늘날, 사회복지시설은 양적인 측면 뿐만 아니라, 질적인 측면의 요구조건이 증가하고 있다. 특히, 특수학교에 관한 시설의 경우에는 증가되는 시설욕구 뿐만 아니라 과거 10년동안의 여러 시설의 결점을 보완시키는 방향으로 이루어지고 있다. 이에 본 논문은 현재까지의 특수학교의 현황을 개괄적으로 기술하고, 일반적인 장애의 4가지 영역으로 구분.편성하여 각 장애별로 교육과정을 분석하고, 특수학교의 일반교실에서의 장애아동의 학습 및 생활활동을 1일생활단면조사를 통해 수업시간의 학습행위.학습내용을 조사하여 각 장애별로 학습형태의 특징을 파악하여 학습공간의 성격을 규정하였다. 이 결과를 바탕으로 하여 특수학교의 일반교실에서 일어난 학습활동은 그에 대응하는 학습공간이 계획되어져야 한다.
