In narratology, the dualism which is divided into story and discourse is indispensible presupposition for textual analysis. Theories in relation with narratology usually consider story/discourse as objective/predicative. And it is saying that story becomes known by discourse. But it is not such a simple problem, because discourse should be confronted with many choices in the process of producing text. The autonomy of a text is guaranteed by such choices. Therefore, it is natural result that every discourse, more or less, should have certain purpose or intention. We also can say that, in the other way, every choice is made by a purpose. In this paper, by analysing <Tak-ryu: A muddy stream>, we can understand that a discourse is always acted from some purpose. For example, <Tak-ryu: A muddy stream>'s main story is Chobong's miserable life. For the purpose of Chobong's miserable life, Chobong has to marry Taesu, to be a concubine of Jeho and to live with Hyeongbo. Here, In the phase of story, verisimilitude is very weak. So the verisimilitude of this story will be obtained by discourse. In this paper, by analyzing text, we could conclude that teleological property of discourse organize story and it gives verisimilitude to story. That is to say that, discourse does not only come out sto교, but it has also very active role during organize text, so sometimes it makes story. When the purpose-orientated property of discourse is strengthened, discourse can make story. The aim of this paper is, to clarify one of the properties of discourse and now I would like to call it as teleological property. And I hope that, by accepting this paper's argument point, we can expand the theory of narratology.
