This paper explores emerging research topics in Christian education for the 21th century in close relation to changing trends in contemporary theology The contemporary theology has challenged with the pluralism, empiricism, pragmatism and postmodernism and, thereby, confronted the emerging needs for the reconstruction of Christian theology and Christian education. Along with this line, this paper will describe the current trends in Christian theology for the purpose of reconstructing Christian education in general and Christian curriculum in particular. This paper starts with the four major types of contemporary theology, such as cosmological theology, liberation/political theology, hermeneutical/hermeneutic theology, and narrative/lingnistic theology. In correspondence with the four major types of contemporary theology, the chapter III explores four topics of Christian education. The first topic is focused on reinterpretation of God's creative activities. God's creative activities should not be understood as one time event of the past, but should be considered as ongoing process based on the interaction between God and human beings. The second topic is critical reflection on traditional theology. The traditional theodicy has explained a series of human events from the perspective of God's one-way decision. The understanding of God as the Ruler should be transformed to the "Suffering God" in solidarity With the oppressed, the poor, the excluded and so on. The third topic refers to the necessity of critical reflection on the Christian tramtion from the hermeneutic/hermeneutical perspective. Christian education is a hermeneubcal activity winch encourages students to interpret God's present activities in various ways, thereby participate in these activities(Christian praxis). The fourth topic is focused on the necessity of recognizing the equal value of the various experiences, which is drawn from different sex, races, classes, and cultures. Christian curriculum should be designed to include various faithful experiences, which has not been recognized as a part of educational contents.
