In this thesis, I investigated the aesthetic consciousness of Kim Jong-sam's poetry in the 1950-1960s. It is a aesthetic shudder that mediated the relation of between cognitions and rrethods in his poetry. With a aesthetic shudder, he intended to, reveal the secret relations of between the subject and the object.
His inquiry about the meanings of the relation of between the subject and the objects was made in two ways. First, he made a inquiry about the meaning of the objects by dint of surrealist methods that were based on the denial of correlations of things, and revealed the secrets of things. Second, he sought to renew the correlations of things in point of view musical order. And with a metaphor, he recognized that there is a contradiction of between Being and Absence. In this inquiry about the meaning of every thing, of course, there was a tragic recognition on the then current situation after the Korean War.
In this respect, Kim Jong-sam's poetry made a inquiry about the meaning of every thing played a important role in the history of korean contemporary poetry. To be concrete, his poetry paved the way for the stream of poetry that called into questions about the object since 1960s. His poetry, however, also had a limit that it didn't weigh the importance of secrets revealed by a aesthetic shudder.
