The purpose of this article is to argue that the terrorist attack on America in September 11, 2001 could nor be a result of the "Clash of Gvilization" but the cause of the "Clash of Civilization."
The logic of 'dialectic of mediation' tells us why the Western civilization is eager to seek or create its enemy and why it could be perished by itself. The September attack critically increased the level of world conflicts. The logic of "Clash of Civilization" by Samuel P. Huntington has been used in order to explain the tragedy.
However, the study of international politics shows terrorism in this world could not be reduced to a certain trait of a civilization. For example, USA is a major target and source of terrorism. The September incident was not a new one. Any efforts to reduce the September terror to the nature of Islamic civilization could be explained as an effort to make enemy outside for the survival of its civilization.
The sense of insecurity in the Western civilization has a long tradition to produce some hysteria against another civilization, as in the case of "Yellow Peril." That hysteria could be the reason why the civilization collapse.
