This thesis is to analyze the novels in A Literary Collection of Chosun People. This collection is a collection of novels published by Chosun Literary Circles under the wartime mobilization. Its goal is construction of new culture. This collection’s epilogue says that the novels collected in this book are selected carefully into the most representative today’s Chosun Literature under the judgement that they are issued things. Therefore, if we analyze this book, we can take a good look at the writing aspects in Chosun and the literary men’s logic of responding to the situation under the wartime structure at the end of Japanese’s ruling.
The most noticeable thing in this thesis is a study on People of a mountain temple by Lee Kwang-su. He said, in the course of trial by Special Committee for Anti-national Behavior, “I did a pro-Japanese deeds for my nation”. However, peculiarly, it is confirmed that his Japanese novels can be divided into Gayama Mitzro-side novels and Lee Kwang-su-side novels. The former is a pro-Japanese literature, the latter is a national literature. People of a mountain temple dealt in this thesis belongs to the former. Therefore, even though he walks in the pro-Japanese line, the evaluation for his pro-Japanese literature should be reconsidered, as his Japanese novels are not all pro-Japanese literature,
It is examined that, analyzing into Lee Mu-myung’s Munseobang, through a protagonist shows one-sideness in character, that is, an unconditional obedience close to religious belief, how an uneducated people transforms into a god’s people of Tenno. And also, analyzing into Hong Jong-woo’s A Girl who is Brought up by the Family of the Husband-to-be and Jeong In-tek’s Cheongryanglee outskirts, it is cleared out that the course and meaning about how women through the education has become a wife or a mother of military nation. In the unit of Jo Yong-man’s In the Ship and Lee Seok-hun's Journey to the East, the course of Chosun and Japan’s being into one nation is cleared out by making a comparison between historical facts and fictitious facts.
The dual linguistic novels written in Japanese language under the Japanese rule have waited for a minute and exquisite analysis since then. If we evaluate the dual linguistic novels through the consistent and exquisite analysis, the so-called dark period of our novel history has a much more systemic, comprehensive and living feature.
