The Purpose of this thesis is to testify the tradition of Creation faith which is fertility and proliferation in the Old Testament. Former Creation theologians have not dealt with fertility and proliferation as creation theological subject of the Old Testament, because those themes were Canaanite. As to how to express creation, they suggested fiat-version, make-version, and battle-version.
However, this thesis proves that the fertility and proliferation in the Old Testament are related with the creation faith tradition, though such traditional creation verbs don't appear. Yahweh not only gave birth to Israel and reared it, but also begot natural fertility and preserved natural order. This is Yahweh's maternal creation faith tradition that denies thoroughly divine two sexes in the Old Testament.
For instance, Yahweh's-who has a maternal creativity-judgement appears as a reversal creation in the Book of Hosea. This thesis testifies Yahweh's maternal reversal creation through three verbs in judgement oracle:(Ho 2:3[5]);(Ho 4:3);(Ho 13:15). In the Book of Hosea, Yahweh's-who has a maternal creativity-salvation is a creation through fertility and proliferation. This thesis argues that Yahweh's maternal creation activity was expressed through three creation verbs in contrast to three reversal creation verbs:(Ho 6:2);(Ho 2:23[25]);(Ho 2:21-22[23-24]).
In conclusion, this thesis argues that maternal creator Yahweh is a God who brings fertility and sterilization of Israel, and fertility and desolation of a land. By God's compassion, Hosea's judgement oracle was transformed to salvation oracle.
