Nowadays, every nation in this world tries to secure its own identity in the wild waves of neo-liberalism. Under this circumstance, it would be inevitable that the humanities is in a critical moment. The crisis of the humanities is caused by the diffusion of materialism and shortsighted values for immediate gain. Classic literature, regarded as old, conservative, and difficult, faces a crisis, too.
In order to overcome this difficulty, we have to change our understating of classic literature, for the reality is that we can hardly find and produce new works on classic literature
This paper is to consider how to link classic literature with culture contents as a part of globalization of Korean language and literature. It is important to take advantage of the contents of classic literature in various angles as following:
1. Pedagogical effects : We expect win-win effect since courses developed in this study are linked to industry-academic cooperative system and interdisciplinary co-works.
2. Economic effects : Organizing the consortium with image art industrials and developing and tracing the prototype of Korean culture can lead us to create characters to be applied to cultural industry, which can also enhance its value with printing and
publishing the creative scenarios of culture contents.
3. Cultural effects : The subject matters of classic literature in this study are based on a myth, a legend and a narration. If the matters were closely linked with image art industrials, we could get an opportunity to give publicity to the traditional culture and art of Korea home and abroad. As a result of that, we will have a correct understanding of our own traditional culture and bring the importance of culture to our attention.
